Nutcracker Ballet Playing Cards

Prospero Art

These brand new playing cards could become a holiday tradition, just as the Nutcracker Ballet has become in America. The cards feature evocative portraits of all the major Nutcracker characters: Fritz, Drosselmeyer, Clara, Grandfather, Grandmother, the Mouse King, the Snow Queen, the Snow King, Mother Ginger, the Sugar Plum Fairy, the Dew Drop Queen, the Dancing Bear, and the other colorful characters and dance routines from Tchaikovsky's most memorable ballet. They feature art by Jan Padover, who also did the art for Prospero's Shakespeare Playing Cards.

Peter Tchaikovsky (1840-1893) composed the Nutcracker Suite in 1892 for the legendary choreographer Marius Petipa (1818-1910). First performed in America by the San Francisco Ballet (the oldest ballet troupe in the U.S.), it has now become part of our culture’s festive holiday tradition. Bring that tradition home with these colorful new playing cards. Deck includes a link to a downloadable e-coloring book of the Nutcracker Ballet.

2-1/2" x 3-7/16", plasticized playing cards, 54 per box (4 suits of 13 each plus two jokers). Published by Prospero Art.
